Malaysia's 1st Hot Air Balloon with Orang Asli Pos Tenau

“Is it possible to fly the hot air balloon in kampung orang asli” – that was the question that came from one of the AKA Balloon pilot, Atiqah Khairudin to me almost a month ago. I shared my story to her that I’ve been to kampung orang asli few times in Ulu Slim while having our breakfast after their Life On Air event in Melaka. I then spontaneously said, “YES” without even thinking “how” to make that thing happen.
We were considering to adjourn the plan due to the rainy season a day before the event date. Only those who have been to Pos Tenau know what are the problems they might be facing if they come during the rainy season. However, with the permission from Allah the All Mighty, our intention is finally fulfilled, although we got rained in certain areas, Alhamdulillah, we made it.
The very 1st time in Malaysia, collaboration between AKA Balloon and Overlanders 3F (O3F), we succeeded to fly (which actually tethered) the hot air balloon in Kg. Orang Asli Pos Tenau, Ulu Slim, Perak involving indigenous peoples. At the 2350ft above sea level, a hot air balloon was successfully flown.
It was a great experience when we see the happy faces of the pupils of SK Pos Tenau and the rest of the villagers to fly with the air balloon for the first time in their lives. Although some of them were hesitated and skeptical at the beginning, but after being assured and invited several times, they eventually braced up and get into the basket to fly.
Very much thank you to all teachers of SK Tenau for the cooperation given in a way to materialise our hope. This wouldn’t happen without their help. We also would like to thank Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) for allowing to be part of their programme us thus shortened other related procedures.
This is such a sweet history for AKA Balloon and O3F. Thanks folks. To O3F, We make history, we make things fun!
